My Story

My name is Rick Sandoval, and I am the founder of RNS Consulting LLC.  I began my career in law enforcement with the Milwaukee Police Department back in 1982 at the young age of 19.  I started as a Police Aide and was tasked with administrative duties which helped me to better understand the internal workings of the Dept. as well as learning how to navigate through the various resources available at that time.

At the age of 21, I was promoted to Police Officer and that kicked off a very exciting and extremely active career.  I was blessed to have worked with many of "Milwaukee's Finest" over the years in areas such as Vice (narcotics), Fugitive Apprehension, and Intelligence (Gangs), along with some other specialized district level assignments.  After 25 years with MPD, I made the very difficult decision to retire and leave the city.  I truly loved those with whom I was privileged to work with, and the job I was doing.

I then began my second career with an area Fortune 100 Company (at that time) as a contracted Investigations Coordinator and hit the ground running.  In the 15 years that followed, I was onboarded with the Company and was taught and learned a lot about the private sector.  I was again blessed to have the opportunity to participate in the building and growth of a security team, led by an experienced security professional.  Over the years, my responsibilities increased, and I recently retired as a Sr. Director of Investigations.  Along this path, I realized that my real passion within the private sector is working to help mitigate the risk of violence in the workplace (WPV).  I find it very rewarding and can proudly say we built and ran a very successful program with thousands of issues being mitigated over the years.

After several months of actual retirement, I've again been presented with opportunities to help mitigate WPV risk.  It's because of my passion that I've formed RNS and will again be partnering with a few colleagues to provide the best service and guidance possible to help your organization minimize that risk.  While RNS has a large network of resources available (active assailant training, threat response services, and more), we will be focusing on helping companies review their existing WPV program and steps that can be taken to improve upon it.  Having a proactive program in place can go a long, long way to keeping your employees safe and responding to the various risks that may come your way, and limiting liability at the same time.
